DRUID Final Conference 2011

After five years of intensive research activities the EU-integrated Project DRUID will be completed this year. DRUID partners and their guests will come together and hold a Final Conference at a baroque monastery in downtown Cologne – the Wolkenburg. More than 300 participants are expected to attend and getting informed on results, achievements and conclusions at this meeting. In addition to the plenary session the conference will offer in-depth scientific sessions on various topics.

As in the past years we are looking forward to welcome dedicated delegates and following lively presentations. This year DRUID’s work package leaders and scientists from within the project will inform a broader yet distinguished audience of international scientists, representatives of European organizations and policy makers, as well as the specialized press The plenary session and a press conference of the first conference day will be followed by three in-depth scientific sessions on day two.

The objective of DRUID is to provide scientific support to the EU transport policy makers by suggesting guidelines and measures to combat impaired driving. Financed within the 6th EU Framework Program, this project was launched on October 15th 2006. Experts from 18 countries representing 37 institutions did co-operate to gain new insights into the real degree of impairment caused by psychoactive substances such as alcohol, drugs and certain medicines and their actual impact on road safety. The five years project, co-ordinated by the Federal Highway Research Institute of Germany (BASt) has a total budget of about 23.5 Million Euro.
